🫂 How to have a softer 2024
Stop trying to burn yourself out
Happy NY financial hot girls! I hope you’re feeling refreshed and ready for the year ahead. I didn’t get much of a chance myself to reflect on 2023 properly so I’ll be dedicating some time this coming weekend to do this, and if you’re like me—join me! I might hop on a TikTok live and get it done with you.
What I did build out was a yearly goals planner, as I normally do. Except now, it’s a little grown up. I’ve fused the 12-week year method and a broader outlook to goals into one organiser (I’ve blocked out my goals here):
In each month, I have prompts to reflect and plan the next month, and a habit tracker that links up to my annual goals. This is a stress-free way for me to stay accountable each month and make sure I remember what goals I’ve set at the beginning of the year.
I’ve been a little overwhelmed by the 2023 recaps flooding my social feeds so I won’t bore you with much of that, but I do encourage you to have a little think about what you’d like to do differently with your 2024.
The financial hot girl energy is to make changes that result in micro improvements: getting 1% better over time, rather than rushing for a 100% change.
1% improvements are more likely to stick around after the year is up, and are easier to be consistent with over a longer period of time.
Alongside 1% changes, have a think about your routines and how they match your energy.
What would you do on a...
high energy day
medium energy day
low energy day
...that still bring you to your overall objective, whatever that is? For example, if you wanted to get fitter:
high energy day: go to the gym and lift weights
medium energy day: go to the gym and do some light stretching and cardio
low energy day: walk outside
These allow you to stay consistent over time rather than aiming for 100% everyday, which as a woman, I struggle with 🥸
P.S. remember that a soft life is a reward for smart, strategic, highly-leveraged hard work. You can’t skip that part. Remember this when you dream big and soft.
I’m over 25 and I still don’t know what I want to do as a career. HELP.
I’ll be real with you: I’m 28 and I’ve only just accepted the fact that my ‘career’ is something that’ll probably change depending on my own passion and interests developing through life. That, and constantly reminding myself that there are no rules! There’s no deadline for figuring out your career, figuring out your passion, and even when you make that decision... you can change your mind!
There are so many dilemmas that are similar to yours, and I hope you can take some comfort in that fact. I certainly have 🤣
Take a step back, do a little audit of your life, have a really honest conversation with yourself about your true interests right now, and go from there. Remove the age, remove the comparisons, remove the ‘still’ from your mindset! You’re a baby, and you’ve got a whole life ahead of you to figure stuff out. Throw sh*t at the wall and see what sticks. We have the freedom and grace to do that!!
