the rich girl calendar no one talks about
the smartest women reset their money in autumn. here's why | fhg #61
Hi financial hotties,
January gets a lot of credit for being the start of something new. It’s cold, carries a danger of overcompensating and it feels like everyone's sprinting on fumes. Personally, I’ve always found it a little overwhelming.
Autumn, however, is the goal-setting IT girl. It’s when smart women really build leverage that allows January to build on, rather than start.
This season has always been a reliable restart button, we’ve just forgotten how to use it as adults.
I think of Autumn, and Q4, as the real new year. The perfect balance of structure and time. The social chaos from summer slows down, routines fall back into place, and you have the space to think clearly about what’s working in your life and what isn’t. Financially, personally, and professionally.
P.S. make sure you’re subscribed to my YouTube channel to find out why my personal Autumn reset has been…. surprisingly different. Dropping this evening.
𝜗ৎ In this issue:
Why autumn matters more than January
Most people use January to make resolutions. The women who actually get results use Q4 to set direction.
Autumn is the leverage season — your decisions now compound into the next year’s results.
Here’s what I mean:
Disclaimer: even though this may seem like an issue that is January-hate-coded, it isn’t - I promise. We’re just heavily leaning into the power of autumn for building leverage toward our goals.
To my Capricorn and Aquarius financial hotties, you make January so much better 🫶 ♑️ 🫶 ♒️ 🫶
My Q4 recalibration
This is the reference I use each autumn to get my money and life structured before year-end. I don’t do it all, and neither should you.
Think through what’s relevant to you, your income streams and life:
How I earn money
Check income so far vs my 2025 target.
If you’re in a 9–5 → prep for bonuses, end-of-year reviews, or negotiate before the business, or the quietness of holidays.
If you’re self-employed → map out what projects or offers could bring in a final push before Christmas.
Review income streams: which ones feel light and which ones drain me?
Remove the 10% of effort that gives no return.
Refocus on the 20% that moves everything forward.
How I keep money
Audit outgoings by category: where do I leak money, and where’s the ROI?
Decide on one upgrade that improves my environment or workflow (if you follow me on IG you’ll know I am fawning over lash lifts right now for content creation, gamechanging)
Clean up financial admin: invoices, expenses, cash flow.
Create an “autumn budget” → add in the fun stuff (coffees, seasonal food, cosy dinners).
Open a Christmas sinking fund now. Even £20 per week gives you £200+ by December.
How I grow money
Top up investments (if you can). Even one lump sum before year-end feels satisfying, and is one last push toward investment goals.
Decide how profits or savings are allocated: investing, debt reduction, or reserves.
Choose one new wealth system to strengthen (pension, ISA, S&S).
Automate transfers so the boring stuff compounds without any extra effort.
Choose one wealth skill to learn this autumn through a book, podcast, or course.
The quiet work you do now is what you will be loudly proud of next year.
What this season asks of you
Autumn asks for two things:
Honesty about what’s actually working.
Discipline to simplify what isn’t.
Don’t try to reinvent yourself before January. Just realign and recalibrate from where you are right now. Remember the financial hot girl mantra: sloppy action before anything else.
This way, you leave the guilt behind but you still make space to built that momentum for your goals in January.
The women who end the year calm, wealthy, and ready, they’re the ones making their quiet moves right now. They’re not giving up just because ‘it’s Autumn’. They see 90 chances ahead of them to make a different choice, no matter how small that choice is.
Whether you choose to honour that 6am alarm for the gym, or that 7pm hour to read the personal finance book, that’s discipline, momentum, and a choice that future-you in January will be so, freaking, proud of.
This newsletter and everything shared in it is to help you build a well-rounded, aspirational life that includes money. I hope it was able to do that today 🫶
