we're breaking up with this mindset
the 60-day experiment that changed how I view success
We need to break up with the big goal-setting mindset of ‘I’ll be happy when….’
Now, I've spent the last 60 days tracking 8 simple daily habits before my trip to Argentina.
They weren’t groundbreaking habits - just basics like reading 20 minutes a day, walking at least 10k steps, and keeping my phone away for the first hour of the day.
But it revealed something huge about how we chase goals and run away from life sometimes. And I want to talk about how we need to change.
Most of us treat our goals like escape routes.
"I'll be happy when I lose 5 kilos."
"Life will be better once I have my dream home."
"Everything will fall into place after I get that promotion."
We're essentially using future achievements as plasters for a life we're not fully enjoying right now.
But by tracking 8 habits for 60 days, I ended up focussing on little moments of daily accomplishment. It helped me feel better about my day-to-day, instead of putting SO much pressure on the big future goals.
The lack of focus on our day to day achievements also makes us feel like we need to spend more to ‘feel better’. It’s no surprise that while I’ve been doing Project 60, I’ve made more and spent less money.
And I actually found out that science backs this up - studies show we get more dopamine from progress than achievement. Those small daily wins literally give your brain more happiness than the big milestone you're chasing.
When you're genuinely enjoying your routine, goals become natural next steps rather than escape routes. Your side hustle becomes an exciting addition to your life, not your only source of hope for future happiness.
So here's a challenge: Pick ONE tiny daily habit that makes you feel good—not something impressive or social-media-worthy. Just something small that adds a bit of joy or accomplishment to your day, and build from there.
Because when you're creating a life you enjoy living, achieving goals becomes the cherry on top - not the whole sundae.
Sending this from Argentina, where my holiday feels like a celebration of life rather than an escape from it ✨
