The avoidance piece is the one that stays with me. The moment you named it — looking made you more aware, which made you less likely to avoid — that is the whole thread. Most people think awareness follows action. You showed it works the other way. Awareness is the action. Everything else is downstream of it.

I highly recommend Financial Feminist by Tori Dunlap for anyone looking for another “finance” book! It’s very beginner friendly and encourages guilt-free wealth building. She also has a podcast that is a great to start with!
