I want to pick up sewing! I think it's an important skill - I love clothes and would LOVE to be able to tailor my own to fit me properly (looking at you, cute pants that are WAY too long)!
Me too!!! I have to say I love long pants because I’m a long legged girlie 😅 but I’d also love to be able to tailor my own clothes, even though I love the money I spend on it I feel like it’d be a great skill for our brains too!
I *wish* I could pull them off, but unforch the Universe said to stop growing at 11... so tailoring is the only way to go! It's nice and repetitive motions would be GREAT for relaxing and who knows what you could make!
I think i haven't really found a newsletter (or i didn't try) to get through this whole financial literacy thing. I randomly found yours and I'm so hooked! I really love this. Suddenly, financial literacy doesn't sound like a rocket science thanks to you <33 have a great day ahead💌
In a world where everything needs a side hustle and every passion needs to be monetized, this is a refreshing perspective. The best things in life are often the ones we do purely for the joy of them. Protecting that space from the pressure to monetize is itself a form of wealth.
This might be the most rebellious wealth advice I have read all year. Parents sometimes focus so much on monetization that they forget the core of the hobby.
I was raised to prioritise stability and education which I’m grateful for, and I understand why, but hobbies are such an important part of your development.
It’s true that monetizing your hobby can destroy it. However, there is a certain appeal to sharing it. I think our culture makes it really hard to stop there though. I can see the appeal of protecting it, keeping it away from social media or any attempt to make it into a job. Thanks for this piece. It made me think about the trade offs and motivations behind my hobbies.
Protecting it is a great first step, I think being able to share it without it becoming performative is something that media literate people can do! If you can healthily share it why not. Probably is more of a trap if you don’t know how to keep it protected!
Thanks for reading, I’m really glad it encouraged some introspection. Hobbies are really interesting parts of us
Daily Stupid Hour makes me feel smart. Time well spent.
It took me a few daily stupid hours for me to feel smart… but now I agree 🤣

The unmonetised stuff often has a direct impact on the monetised stuff. Thanks for reading!
None monetised. All protected.

That shows in your writing
